Madison River Report Beaverhead River Big Hole River Report

…And still More Spawners

October 30th, 2009

[HyperLink3] It’s a great fall to be on the Beaverhead this year! The flow out of Clark Canyon is still a hair over 200 cfs making for fine wading as well as FLOATING conditions over here. Highly unusual for this time of year. The fish are podded up doing the procreation boogey at the moment so you’ll need to do a bit of looking but when you find them you’ll generally find a few so keep at it. Try and leave the nesting browns alone but the rainbows sitting just downstream are fair game. They’ll eat a dead drifted egg more times than not and when not, a baetis nymph in their faces will surely get their attention. If you’re lucky (and this could surely be the week to get lucky over here) you’ll hit a stellar baetis hatch with fish podded up and sipping the adults.
