Meet Bern Sundell, a local legend here in Ennis, Montana. He grew up fishing Montana waters and lives in his native town of Ennis, where he is often seen on the Madison River. One of the local guides once remarked that “Bern knows every fish on the river personally.” On the water, Bern is a stick, often throwing his finely tuned articulated streamers that have a reputation for fooling some of the largest trout in the region. In his studio, he can be found painting some of the most realistic and beautiful trout we've ever seen. His artwork is nothing short of stunning and draws the attention of nearly every traveling angler that comes through Ennis. Radiant with light, his beautifully detailed paintings are found in corporate and private collections throughout the world. He also completed a 21’ x 4’ painting as a percent-for-the arts project commissioned by the state of Montana. The painting, Serenity, is on view in the main lobby of the Natural Resources Building at Montana Tech. His paintings appear in a limited edition fine art book as well as in other books, magazines, and television shows.
