BRING ON THE SNOW!

Elina here, writing the weekly fishing report. I finished my first year of college last week and started working in the shop! Having only been home for about five days, I have not been out fishing yet, but I am eager and excited to return to the water and find some fish. 

The time is right on the Madison, and the fish are ready to roll. From what I have heard from the guides, stonefly nymphs and caddis nymphs have been working well. You can never go wrong throwing a Girdle Bug, a classic. The Prince Nymph has been a favorite recently, and March Browns have been rewarding as well. The streamer bite has been fairly consistent, black and olive Peanut Envy'sare always a solid bet. Dry fly fishing is starting to pick up and has lately been intermittently good on the lower Madison in particular. Caddis and Baetis hatches have been relatively active on the lower. Mainly march browns and caddis are common on the upper madison. 

River flows have increased in the last few days due to rain and snow. However, most of the river is in good, fishable condition as of today. As the daytime temperatures continue to rise, we will likely see an increase in runoff towards the end of next week. Cameron is currently flowing at 1140 CFS, and water temperatures are decreasing due to the colder weather.
