The Xmas Island Special in Orange is a bonefish fly on a size 6 hook from Fulling Mill. The orange dressing imitates the shrimp and small crustaceans bonefish feed on.
Present it on the flats with a steady retrieve. Orange is a proven producer that stands out against pale bottoms without spooking fish.
On the flats, a quiet presentation and a slow, steady strip usually outperform extra casting distance.
