The Xmas Island Special in Pearl is a bonefish fly on a size 6 hook from Fulling Mill. The pearlescent body flashes subtly like the shrimp and baitfish of tropical flats.
Fish it for bonefish with a slow, natural retrieve. Pearl is a versatile color that adapts to varying light conditions over sand and grass.
On the flats, a quiet presentation and a slow, steady strip usually outperform extra casting distance.
