Veverka's Captain Crabby in Tan is a crab imitation on a size 4 hook from Umpqua. The buggy, leggy profile suggests a crab scuttling across the flat.
Present it to permit with a natural sink-and-strip retrieve. The tan coloration is a versatile flats shade that works over sand and light grass.
Permit are famously selective, so a natural drift with minimal false casting gives this fly its best chance.
