The Ray Charles in Gray is a scud and sowbug imitation — the tiny freshwater shrimp that trout gorge on in spring creeks, tailwaters, and weed beds. The gray coloration matches naturals perfectly in clear water. Fish it slow and deep along weed edges and spring creek bottoms, or as a dropper behind a larger nymph. When fish are feeding subsurface but ignoring your mayfly patterns, the Ray Charles is often the answer.
