Montana Fly Co.'s Major Tazer Midge in Black is a #18 midge pattern for trout feeding on small midges. Midges are a year-round staple on tailwaters and spring creeks, where trout feed on larvae and pupae even when nothing is hatching, and black is a classic midge color that matches the naturals. Fish it dead-drifted under an indicator, as a dropper behind a dry, or in the surface film during a midge hatch — the #18 size fishes well when trout are selective and the bugs are small. A go-to midge for tailwater trout.
