Mayer's BH Purple Wing Emerger in Black is a #18 bead-head emerger from Montana Fly Co. The bead head gives the fly the weight to fish just under the surface film, where emerging insects are most vulnerable, and the purple wing adds a flash of color that draws trout in low light. Fish it dead-drifted under an indicator, swung through riffles, or as a dropper behind a dry — the #18 size matches the small mayflies and midges trout key on during a hatch. A go-to emerger when trout are feeding just below the surface.
