Mayer's Trident Tube Midge in Deep Larva Green is a #14 midge larva from Montana Fly Co. The tube body gives the fly a translucent, segmented profile that looks like a real midge larva, and the deep green colorway matches the naturals trout eat on the bottom year-round. Midges are a staple on tailwaters and spring creeks, where trout feed on larvae even when nothing is hatching. Fish it dead-drifted under an indicator or as a dropper behind a dry — the #14 size fishes well when trout are keyed on bigger larvae. A go-to midge for selective tailwater trout.
