This Blue Winged Olive pattern in size #18 imitates a baetis mayfly struggling to hatch in the surface film.
BWOs hatch in cool, cloudy weather when little else is moving. Dead-drift it to rising fish during the hatch.
It also makes a highly visible top fly in a dry-dropper rig, pulling double duty as strike indicator. Keep a few in different sizes to match the naturals you see on the water that day.
