Imposter Red #18

The Imposter Red is a midge nymph pattern tied in red on a size 18 hook. It suggests the midge larvae and pupae that trout feed on all year, especially in tailwaters and spring creeks where midges dominate the drift.

Fish it as a dropper behind a dry fly or as part of a nymph rig in slow, deep water. The red coloration offers trout a different look when standard black or olive midges start getting refused.
