An ant dry fly pattern in red from Solitude Fly. Flying ants trigger some of the year's most exciting surface feeding, and the red coloring stands out on the water.
Fish it on a dead drift during ant falls, typically on warm, calm afternoons in late summer.
A gentle twitch during the drift suggests a struggling insect and can turn a follow into a strike when trout are being cautious.
