A black ant dry fly pattern. Ants are a staple summer food source, and the black #14 profile matches the naturals that trigger feeding frenzies during ant falls.
Fish it on a dead drift during warm, calm afternoons when flying ants are on the water.
Late summer is prime time for terrestrials, especially on windy afternoons when the breeze knocks insects off the bankside vegetation.
