CHILLY WATER

Madison-River-Fishing-Report-OctoberOCTOBER 2023

UPDATED 10/6/2023

Happy Friday Madison Valley! This weekend is shaping up to be a beautiful one. Fall colors are in full effect with chilly mornings and sunny afternoons inbound. The cottonwoods aren’t the only ones sporting their seasonal stripes. Resident brown trout are beginning to show epic shades of orange, yellow, and everything in between. Valley Garden is seeing an influx of anglers hoping to engage in battle with these sought after fish.

Big brown trout isn’t the only thing happening this weekend. MRFC’s very own Finn Histon and Rob Foster are premiering their newest ski film, Bandits Unchained, up in Bozeman this Saturday. Swing by Bogert Park at 6PM to support the boys and check out the live music, great food, cold beers, and raffle giveaway! Back to fishing…

Flows at Cameron are running around 1130 CFS as of this morning. Water temps were fluctuating between 47.48 F and 53.78 F over the last few days. We’ve been picking fish off in all types of water. Shallower slow water as well as deep buckets closer to town are still producing. I’ve found that fish have been a bit more energetic to crush a stripped streamer these last few days, hopefully that will continue into the weekend!
