TO those who are ahead of us
In life, in age, and in wisdom. Thank you for your patience on the water, your guidance working out the kinks in the line, setting the path for all of those following in your footsteps.
Show the young guns how it's done.
The kids are getting older, moving faster, taking a few too many pictures. They may know a thing or two these days, but they sure don't know all the tricks you have up your sleeve.
Good Days behind, good days ahead.
The trips happen less frequently (or more), you've moved from sleeping in the car to a bed and a good night's rest, and you don't quite see your buddies as often as you should. But a day on the water is a day on the water, and you've still got a lot of living and fishing left to do.
Age doesn't Matter.
Unless it's getting you that discounted season license. You may have a different way of doing things than the young bucks out there splashing through your, what-was-once, secret hole, but you just might have more in common than you think.
The thing is to become a master and in your old age to acquire the courage to do what children did when they knew nothing.
As no man is born an artist, so no man is born an angler.
